Some Materials We Use
(Follow the links to get more information, including our assessment of each material's strong and weak points.)
Aluminum
1/4"-thick Aluminum has been one of the staples
of the sign industry for many years. Of course, we
cut other thicknesses as well, from .020" up to
3/4".
Brass, Bronze and Copper
Brass, Bronze and Copper are also popular metals
for interior and exterior signs.
Duro-Tek
Duro-Tek is perfect for those requiring excellent
impact resistance and durability. In high wear
environments, Duro-Tek resist stress cracking,
moisture and chemicals for enhanced part
integrity. It is easily machined, fabricated and
thermoformed.
Corian, Avonite and Staron
Solid Surface materials are safe, smooth,
nonporous, easy to clean and require no sealing.
They are commonly used on kitchen and
bathroom counter tops. This is a wonderful
choice for many types of signs. One of the most
common uses is for unit numbers and directories
in Offices, Hotels and Apartment Complexes.
PVC (Expanded and Solid)
When it comes to Expanded and Solid PVC, Letra-
Tek is the expert! This material comes in several
colors and thickness. PVC is also available in solid
sheets. This material is somewhat similar to
acrylic, in that it does not have porous edges. It is
paintable and not quite brittle as acrylic. It is also
quite heavy!
Acrylics
When it comes to Plastics, Acrylics probably have
the longest history with the sign industry.
